The Matriarchy; The Counter-Canon Has Arrived
Share
There's a version of this industry's history that never made it onto a poster. The one where the kitchen runs because someone refused to let it fall apart. The one where the toughest person on the line wasn't the loudest — she just outlasted everyone who doubted her.
We've built our Saints lineup out of the icons who shaped what it means to cook, create, and refuse to quit. It was overdue to widen the canon. Not soften it. Widen it.
The Matriarchy™ is live.
This isn't a "for her" line. We didn't shrink the art, pastel it out, or bolt a ribbon on the packaging and call it inclusive. Same ink. Same attitude. Same refusal to apologize for taking up space. The only thing that changed is who's on the wall.
Who's In the Counter-Canon
Dolly. Stevie. Betty. Ruth. Frida. Cher. Martha. April. Marie Laveau. Morticia & Gomez. Alexandria. And Chef Anne, holding down her own notebook.
Women who built empires, held households and kitchens together with nothing but stubbornness, and never once asked permission to be exactly who they were. That's the lineage we're pulling from — not because it's trendy to say "women in the industry," but because half the toughest people we've ever worked a line with were women, and the canon on our wall didn't reflect that. Now it does.
Why Now
This industry still likes to pretend the kitchen is a boys' club with a few exceptions worth mentioning. Anyone who's actually worked a real kitchen knows better. The line cooks who show up at 6am after closing at 1. The chefs running back-of-house while everyone assumes the guy up front is in charge. The women who never got the cover shot but built the reputation the restaurant is living off of.
We're not launching a "women's collection" as a side hustle to the real brand. This is the brand. No competition, only family — and family doesn't get an asterisk.
What's Next
This is the opening move, not the finish line. There's more coming — new formats, new pieces, ways to bring the Matriarchy into more of what you carry and wear. For now: go look the counter-canon in the eye.
We adapt. We overcome. We conquer.
